While I was scrolling through Instagram, I saw a party set-up with these mini domed charcuterie trays filled with cheeses and fruit. These mini cheese trays are only about 4" across to give you an idea of how tiny they are. I thought this domed tray would be perfect for a mini diorama. I used the Humble Home stamp and punch bundle to make a 3D house. To make sure everything stayed in place inside, I cut a piece of vellum and glued both the … [Read more...] about Instagram Strikes Again

Christmas Ornament
For more than ten years, I've been making ornaments for a group of girlfriends. It's become quite the tradition. I gift wrap them and give them out at our Christmas dinner. Here is this year's ornament. I love making these snow globe ornaments because I can add lots of layers and a sprinkling of snow. A few years ago I found the perfect stand to hold all of these handmade ornaments. Here's what they look like all together. After … [Read more...] about Christmas Ornament
Love You
Today I have one more project using the Full of Life Suite. This is a 6 x 6" shadowbox frame. The Full of Life pattern paper comes in a 6 x 6" size so this is a full sized sheet. I used a bunch of the dies from the bundle. I used both the outline heart die and the heart with all the cut-outs. Instead of cutting out all the cut-outs, I used the die to apply our embossing paste on the larger heart outline. (Thanks for the suggestion Poli!) … [Read more...] about Love You
One Last Birdhouse!
This is it for the birdhouses at this time. I wanted to end the set on a really cute project - a 3D birdhouse. This little house turned out better than I hoped. I stamped one house for the front and die cut both the front and a second house for the back. Then I used a strip of 3x12" card stock to make the box center. There really wasn't a great way to measure out the strip in advance. So I just scored it as I went along around all the … [Read more...] about One Last Birdhouse!
My Favorite Books
I've been an avid reader for most of my life. Shortly after college, I started a notebook keeping track of all the books I read every year. I filled up the entire notebook a number of years ago and started a second notebook. Keeping track of the books I've read has been handy because I can go back through the years to see if I've already read a book when it's familiar. But the downside is that the notebooks are in chronological order and not in … [Read more...] about My Favorite Books
I’m No Quitter!
Well, I finished up my paintbrush experiment and it came out better than I hoped. I started by cutting off the dried hot glue from my first brushes that I had colored with re-inker. There was just no salvaging that hot glue. Every time I re-heated it, the red ink just ran out all over the place. So back to square one. I used the rope hot glue to glue the paintbrushes upright. The rope hot glue I purchased came in a 6' length. I ended up having … [Read more...] about I’m No Quitter!
I Learned Something New
About hot glue. I really debated showing the results today, but the reality is that not every project turns out perfect the first time, especially when you're trying something new. Don't be afraid to experiment. So, I guess I would consider this first attempt a bit of a fail, but I did learn some things. Obviously, I am not a great athlete, scientist, or Noble Prize winner, but I do want to point out that all of those fields … [Read more...] about I Learned Something New
And Now For Something Completely Different…
I recently saw online a really creative craft idea to add some colorful decor to your craft studio. The person used paints in her project but I'm going to give it a try using our re-inkers. Any guesses what I'm going to make? This is either going to turn out to be amazing (fingers crossed). Or we shall never speak of this again. Either way, it should be a fun attempt at making something completely different. I'll share my results next week. … [Read more...] about And Now For Something Completely Different…
