Last week I shared our adorable Christmas Scottie with our Peekaboo Treat bags. This week, I’m sharing him with a treat bag that you can make in almost any size to suit your needs. My bag below is approximately 3″ x 3″ tall and 1″ across on the bottom.
So, what is a box in a bag? This is a gift bag that you make with a box bottom. You can see the bottom below. It has squared off sides just like a box. But the top and sides are rounded like a bag.
Here is the pattern for the box bottom. I wanted my box to be 3″ x 1″ when finished. I added a .75″ margin on each side. So I started with a piece of card stock that was 4.5″ x 2.5″. Score .75″ in on all four sides. Then you’ll cut in .75″ on each corner on the longer sides. You need to use a strong tape to hold the box shape together once you fold up the sides. I recommend our Tear & Tape for this. Once the box is built, you’ll use the Tear & Tape around the entire outside of the box to adhere the pattern paper to the box bottom. Once your box in a bag is assembled, you can decorate the outside with whatever you desire.
You can scale this pattern to whatever size you need. Measure what you’re going to put in the bag, then add .75″ on either side to allow for the sides of your box. You can even make this a square if needed. There are so many options with this pattern.
These would be great to make small treats or gifts for the holidays. You could even use them as place cards for your table so everyone knows where to sit.
