One of the cards I shared Monday used the full-sized background die. It makes an amazing frame of pine boughs overlapping the interior of the frame. This is the die I’m referring to.
Once you die cut the frame, you end up with a funny looking reverse image, or the inside piece from the frame.
You can take that inside piece and use it to make a fabulous background. First, you’ll want to center it over your card stock that you’re going to use. Hold it steady and then use your blessing brush to add color around the outside of the piece. Once you’ve inked around the entire outside, you’ll have a pine bough frame made of ink.
For this particular card, I inked the white card stock with that piece in the center. Then I rotated the center of the frame 180′ and inked it again around the entire edge. The second time, I used a bit more ink in my brush making the layer on top a bit darker. This gives the card a nice background without adding additional layers to the card base.
Using your dies to make your own background is a great way to make unique cards. There are so many possibilities to add shadowing to your projects. This is something you should definitely try. I can’t wait to see what you make.
