Stampin Up does a great job with floral stamps. Every time they come out with another one, I tell myself I don’t need another floral stamp set. And then somehow, someway it makes its way into my cart anyway. I can’t explain… it just mysteriously happens. 🙂
One of the prettiest floral sets in the January to June Catalog is the Fine Art Floral Suite. This Suite has everything… stamps, dies, pattern paper, acetate sheets, sparkly ribbon, and gilded flakes! And it all comes together so beautifully. Just look at it all put together.
Today’s project uses one of the Little Treat boxes covered with the Fine Art Floral pattern paper. This paper is so pretty. I’ve used one of the backsides of the pattern paper here to keep the focus on the tag on the front of the box. The tag is cut from one of the acetate sheets, and the flowers are added using dimensionals. Then I clipped the tag onto the ribbon tied around the box.
Just above the ribbon, you can see a gold strip. This is the gilded flakes. The gilded flakes are just like gold leafing, if you’ve ever tried that process. For this project I used a piece of Tear & Tape around the top of the box, then covered the adhesive with the flakes. I used a dauber to brush away the excess flakes and it leaves a lovely gold stripe across the top of the pattern paper.
The flakes are a touch finicky to work with. This is not something to try next to a fan or air conditioner blowing your direction or you’ll have flakes flying everywhere. I found it easier to work with them in a flat shallow tub, rather than the jar they come in. This allows more room to rub off the excess flakes.
Have you tried to work with the gilded flakes or gold leafing? I’d love to hear your experience about it. Comment below!
