Welcome to another What’s New at SU Blog Hop! We have brand new graphics to go with a brand new Catalog. I hope you love the new design as much as I do. Loni did a fabulous job designing our new graphics. The What’s New Blog Hop team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with exciting ideas to share with you.
Today we will feature products from the brand new Annual Catalog. I know you will find a lot of wonderful ideas shared today. Did you know there are actually TWELVE Suites in the new Catalog? Wow! That’s a lot of coordinating products. Considering the amount of samples I’m seeing, the outstanding favorite Suites so far appear to be Bird Ballad and Magnolia Lane. And that’s why I’m sharing something completely different today – the brand new DinoRoar Suite.
Dino Days is a great stamp set for those making projects or cards for young kids or even just the young at heart. My kids are older, but I still couldn’t resist these dinos. One of my favorite movie series is the Jurassic Park movies. And while the dinos from the Dino Days stamp set are not quite as terrifying as the ones in that movie, they are still pretty awesome.
How to make today’s cards..
- Sponge the white background lightly with Balmy Blue.
- Add the clouds using the cloud mask and the Shimmery Embossing paste. You’ll need to let the embossing paste dry for few minutes before gluing the pieces on top.
- While waiting for the paste to dry, stamp your various pieces: the tree trunk, leaves, dino, and his scales/fins. Then die cut them.
- I hand cut the hills. It’s really just a wavy line. You’ll want to alternate your hills on the right and left. Sponge ink on the tops of the hills to give them definition. The top hill is glued directly to the paper using snail adhesive. The middle hill is added with dimensionals. The bottom hill is added with another layer of dimensionals. Be sure to stamp your sentiment before gluing down the bottom hill.
- Tuck the tree trunk just behind the first hill. You’ll need to add a dimensional to the top half of the tree and glue the bottom half directly to the middle hill. The tree branches are glued to the tree truck using glue dots. My branches do extend past the card edge on the left. To fit this card into an envelope, you would need to trim off the branch edges on the left. Or get a bigger envelope.
- Mr. T-Rex is glued down using dimensionals. To make sure he was standing on the bottom hill, I added dimensionals to the back side. You’ll need to stack 3 dimensionals tall on the back or he looks like he’s leaning way back.
- Once the T-Rex scene is complete, you can glue it down to the Mossy Meadow card stock, which then gets adhered to the pattern paper and card base.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card using the brand new DinoRoar Suite. If you have any questions about the pattern or how to put all this together, just let me know.
