Tall Flowers

April 27, 2022 by Diane Leave a Comment

Oh my goodness, I think this one is my favorite card so far with the Flowering Fields Suite. Slim line cards are so popular right now, but sometimes they can be tough to create if your stamp isn’t big enough. I knew the actual stamp for the field wasn’t going to be long enough so I had to adjust my design a bit for this card.

First I cut my white card stock length based on how long I thought it should be. I started with the yellow flowers in the straight line across the top. Then I added in each color field working my way towards the center. Well, the triangles turned out to be too short and I had white space at the end of the purple section and the red section on the right. I trimmed my card stock at the bottom edge of the purple. For the red, I had to stamp it a second time, lining in up against the flowers I had already stamped to continue the length of the field. Yes, I could have just trimmed it where the field ran out, but I really wanted the length of the white piece.

I stamped the windmill in Soft Suede. Then I used my Water Painters to along the edges to create shading on the windmill. I placed the windmill over the area where all the fields meet to help hide any unevenness here.

To stamp the tree in two different colors, I inked the top part of the tree with my green stamp pad, then colored the trunk with my Stampin Write marker and then stamped it. The blue sky is added using our blending brushes.

Originally, I was not planning on using the brass butterflies. But I had a small oopsie and got a smudge of ink in the sky after the card was already done. I added the second butterfly so the first butterfly would not look so out of place. The butterfly was perfect to cover up that oopsie and I actually like how they look on the card.

And since my fields turned out a bit smaller than I planned, this was the perfect opportunity to show off that gorgeous pattern paper from the Suite. This Suite is still available. You can purchase it now by clicking the Shop button on the right. It will take you directly to my online store, which is open 24-7.
