I don’t talk about it very often here, but there is nothing like the good feeling you get when in service for others. I don’t do what I do because I expect to hear a thank you or receive some kind of reciprocation. I do what I do to encourage and help others. Actually that is a large portion of what I do. Encouraging others.
Sure, I love playing with paper and stamps and ink. But what I love more is igniting that spark of delight in someone else making something. I love it when a friend or customer tries something they’ve never tried before and they get so excited because it turns out just the way my sample looks. That is the best! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “I’m not crafty” or “I can’t make anything”. And yet with a little help they discover they don’t have to be crafty, but yes they can make something. Seriously, you can do this.
Another kind of service we/Stampin Up provides is partnering with Ronald MacDonald House Charities. They have been our partner charity for a very long time. To date, Stampin Up and their customers have donated over $1,500,000 to help this charity. Every year we have a special stamp set that is designated as the RMHC stamp set for the year. And for each set sold, Stampin Up donates $3 to RMHC. This year, the set is called “My Hero”. This is a great stamp set because it can be used all year long.
My Downline Group loves to help out our local Ronald MacDonald house. One of the services we provide our local house, is trying to keep the treats in stock at the house. For each Holiday, we make themed treat holders and fill them with a little bit of candy. I realize it’s not much, but we don’t want them to miss out on a Holiday.
My downline Poli has taken it on herself for many years to keep us on track and remind us when we are due to make more treats. She usually designs the project and does much of the die cutting in advance. Then at one of our Downline Meetings, we will assemble and fill each of the treat holders. Then Annette delivers the treats to house for the guests. At our meeting last week, we made about 45 of these cute little Halloween treat boxes.
Each Holiday the treat holder is completely different. This treat holder is the Curvy Keepsake box and we used the Halloween Scenes Edgelits to decorate the outside of the boxes.
I love that this is something we can do for our local Ronald MacDonald House. I realize it’s not quite the same as actually working at the house, but it is something I can do in the time I have available to let those people know that they are not forgotten. That someone is thinking of them.

Just contact your local Ronald MacDonald House and let them know what you can offer. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a Stampin Up Demonstrator to help out.
