If you are a stationery aficionado, then you’ve probably heard of Rifle Paper Company. For years, they have made the most stunning floral images on black backgrounds. Once you’ve seen their graphic floral designs, you’ll start to recognize their gorgeous products.
The Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Paper is reminiscent of Rifle Paper Co, with the bright floral patterns on the deep black background. Today’s card really shows off that stunning paper. I seriously debated whether I should just hoard these sheets or use them. Using them won out because I know I can order more.
I usually create cards that are a bit more subtle, but this paper just screams to be shown off. I wanted the stunning floral design to be the focal point of this card. But I also wanted to use the oversize sentiment in the Lots of Love stamp set. The layers of doilies help the sentiment stand out on the bold background. And, just in case your wondering where the lovely light blue sheet with the herringbone pattern is from, it’s from the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper pack. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with Copper Embossing powder. I love the Metallic doilies but they don’t come in Copper. However, they are white on the back side. This lets me color them any color I need. I simply pressed the doilie into my Versamark pad and then heat embossed it with the Copper Embossing powder to match the sentiment. The Copper embossed doilie and sentiment compliment the warm colors in the paper so well.
You can see a close-up of the flowers and the sentiment here. The flowers are cut from the same sheet of paper. To remove the white edging around my cutouts, I used my Tangerine Tango marker to ink all the edges. The flowers are then glued down with my fine-tip glue pen. To give them a little added sparkle, I glued down a trio of the black mini sequins in the center of each flower. Here you can see a bit of the Sparkly Pool Party ribbon and Black Mini Sequin Trim peeking out next to the Sentiment. This is a stunning card in person. The bold colors and the big sentiment really give life to this card. Don’t be afraid to go bold with your colors to get a stunning effect. It is so worth it when you end up with an amazing card like this.
