Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2019 by Diane Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for some super quick and easy place card holders to make for your Christmas dinner tonight, this isn’t them. šŸ™‚ But, these are just the cutest red trucks bringing you some Christmas cheer.

These trucks are made using the Ride With Me stamp set and Truck Ride dies Bundle. Actually, these come together fairly quickly with a hot glue gun, but you probably won’t have time to make a dozen of these for everyone arriving in the next couple hours.
The Truck Ride dies do cut a 3D truck. Plus there are dies for the right and left fenders and tires too. This is one of those things I bought early on when the Annual Catalog came out in June and I am just getting around to using it for the first time.

I learned a couple things putting the first one together. The stamp with the entire truck does not go with the 3D truck die. That image is meant to be used on a card front. Instead, you’ll use all the window and side pieces to stamp on this truck. Your truck will be flat after you die cut it. You definitely want to stamp everything before you start gluing it together.   When you glue the back end of the truck, make sure to line up the back of the truck bed with the end of the sides of the truck. It looks like the middle part doesn’t line up, but it isn’t supposed to since you’re making a truck bed, which is of course lower than the sides of the truck (see above). To make my truck a little more festive, I glued a mini Christmas tree to the back of the truck bed.

I used a hot glue gun to glue the truck together. I originally started with our tear & tape adhesive but it wasn’t holding together like I wanted it to. The hot glue makes this project far more sturdy. The fenders are added on using dimensionals.

If you did want to whip up a few of these to make as place card holders, you could easily stand a piece of white card stock in the tree with a name on it. You could probably get away with balancing it in the tree branches rather than gluing it in if you plan to reuse the trucks from year to year.

Well, I’ve got to get moving and get breakfast in the oven before the two teenagers drag themselves out of bed in a few hours. Christmas morning sure is different with teenagers. Wishing you all the joy and blessings of a beautiful Holiday Season.
