Stampin Up sells these beautiful embossing folders you can use to create a lovely background. But, you need a die cut machine if you’re going to use them. I know it sounds crazy, but not every crafter has a die cut machine or wants to get a die cut machine. And sometimes, I just don’t want to get out the big die cut machine to use the embossing folders.
You can still make a great background using just stamps and ink. For today’s card, I stamped the leaf in Cajun Craze, which is the same color as the card stock. The leaf is stamped all the way down the side of the card stock. Then I used the back side of one of the pattern papers that had only black and white. The black and white paper was a bit stark so I used the same ink color and added it to the pattern paper with a blending brush.
I think the colored pattern paper and the stamped leaves really tie everything together in this card. And my colored flowers match the card stock color too! I colored my pumpkin a light crumb cake color to keep the focus on the flowers.
Today’s lesson… you can make stunning backgrounds without needing lots of extra equipment or supplies. I bet you too can create something just as nice as this. Get out your stamps and inks and give it a shot.
