Have I Learned My Lesson?

July 12, 2024 by Diane Leave a Comment

I’m sure some of my friends would jokingly say probably not. Let me tell you a story…

Once upon a time (a couple weekends ago), Stampin Up hosted a virtual event for Demonstrators called Creativity Now. This is an awesome event. It’s a fun time crafting with Stampin Up employees and we get some sneak peaks on new upcoming products and some behind the scenes on how products come to life.

When you sign up for the event, you get the opportunity to buy some of the products in the upcoming catalog to use in the projects that day. Below is what we were able to purchase. These items will be available to customers in August. This paper is even better in person. Plus some of the dies will cut out the birds in the paper.

The day before the event, they send you directions on how to cut your paper so you’re ready to craft at the event. This is so helpful to have this information in advance so you can keep up with virtual crafting.

As I’ve hinted, the crafting during the event can go pretty quick. In fact, every presenter makes the comment that you should watch them make one first entirely and then they will make a second one and you will craft along with the second try.

If you’ve been crafting for a while, sometimes it’s really easy to move forward based on the picture they are showing. Here’s where it gets tricky… if you’re working ahead and not listening closely you may miss an important instruction. Just like I did. Before I get into the Great Enamel Effects Explosion of 2024, here’s what the four projects look like that we made during the event. Aren’t they the cutest!

Do you see that box on the bottom right? With that gorgeous copper smeared all over the front of the box? Our Metallic Enamel Effects have a really fine tip on the bottle. You are meant to squeeze it gently to use only a small amount at a time. The bottle is not designed to withstand the force of the Incredible Hulk’s Squeeze of Death. If you channel the Incredible Hulk and squeeze it that hard, the top of the bottle will literally shoot off across the table along with a good portion of the Metallic Enamel Effects, which then leads to the Great Enamel Effects Explosion of 2024 (assuming you do it this year). And you know what? You can’t put the extra Metallic Enamel Effects back into the bottle once it’s shot out across the table, your project, or your shirt (yep, that really happened). So here’s your tip: squeeze gently when they say to squeeze gently. Also, maybe just listen when they say to just listen first.

And if anyone has any tips on how to get Metallic Enamel Effects out of a cream colored shirt, please let me know. It was one of my favorites.
