For our son’s graduation last week, I wanted to create something a little different from the standard graduation card with a cap or the year. To me, Graduation is the start of the next big adventure that our kids will take, whether it’s college, technical school, or something else. I knew the Best Route Suite of products would be perfect to express this.
This card uses the brand new En Route stamp set, Best Route pattern paper, and the Maps embossing folder. Our school colors are blue and yellow, which match this pattern paper perfectly. For our son’s gift, I made a pocket envelope that I could slip a gift certificate into. He’ll be getting a computer for graduation, but I knew he’d want to have some input on what he gets so this is his gift certificate to redeem for a computer this Summer. To make the pocket, I measured the certificate dimensions when folded, and then doubled it, plus added an extra .25″ inches to allow for the seam where it would be glued together. I used one of the circle dies from the Layering Circles framelits to cut the half circle from the top of the pocket. The ribbon is wrapped around the envelope and the seam is on the front side below the yellow oval. The oval is stamped with “adventure awaits” repeatedly. The “You’re Pretty Great” is inked with markers, stamped, and then cut out with scissors. The pocket and the card match each other perfectly – definitely one of the pluses of using Stampin Up products because our products are designed to coordinate so well together. Even though this set was intended for travel themed cards or scrapbooking, I think this set is perfect for someone about to take a big leap to the next thing in their life, whether it’s a graduation or job promotion or even a big move to another City or State.
