It’s Monday morning and that means it’s Coffee Time! Actually every morning is coffee time around here. Coffee is one of those daily things that I look forward to with a passion. Just the right amount of sugar and cream, exactly measured out, paired with a lovely hazelnut coffee. That first sip of hot coffee in the morning is one of my favorite parts of the day.
Today’s project is my Ode to Coffee and all it’s fabulousness. This is an inexpensive wood tray that I found at a local store. The tray came in a natural wood so I painted it white. If you plan to make this project, keep in mind you only need to paint the areas that will be visible.
I cut the Soft Sky card stock to fit the squares exactly. The Coffee Break pattern paper is cut to 1/8th of an inch smaller than the Soft Sky pieces. Three of the cubbies are the same size and the remaining three vary slightly. I didn’t want to permanently glue the paper into the cubbies so instead I used a piece of velcro to adhere the paper. Then if I ever want to change it out, I can easily remove those squares.
The pieces inside the cubbies come together rather easily. I used the mini coffee coffee cups in two of the cubbies. These are 4 oz espresso cups which can be purchased from restaurant supply stores. The cups are glued to the paper in the cubbie with glue dots and dimensionals. I was a little worried they wouldn’t hold, but they are working just fine.
The cupcake is made from the Coffee Cup Framelits dies. The cupcake base is the die that is the “wrap” for the coffee cup. The frosting is the whipped cream for the coffee. The three little brown dots are the coffee beans. The banner is made using the retired Petite Pennants punch and the new Layering Alphabet dies (available to customers June 1st).
If you’ve been in a Starbucks recently, then you’ve seen these green stoppers in the store. This is a great project to recycle those used stoppers. A little bit of soap and water and they are as good as new. The straw is the top part of an extra long straw. Both the straw and the stopper are easy to cut using craft scissors.
All this talk of coffee and I am ready for my next cup! The Coffee Cafe stamp set and Coffee Cup Framelits will be returning in the next Annual Catalog, but the bundle “sale” pricing will be ending May 31st for these two items. The Coffee Break pattern paper will be retiring May 31st. It was still available a few days ago when I made this project, but don’t wait any longer if you really want this paper. I’m surprised it wasn’t sold out long before now. The Soft Sky card stock and ribbon are both retiring May 31st since Soft Sky is one of our Retiring Colors.
Fortunately, I have enough supplies on hand to offer this shadowbox as a Class. This Class will be available in a very limited quantity. Stay tuned for Class date and pricing to be announced later this week.
We are down to the last days of the 2017-18 Annual Catalog and all Retiring Items are available while supplies last. Some items are already sold out. Hurry and get your order in before the Catalog ends.
