Nope, it’s not the amount of weight people will gain during the Holiday Season. It’s the amount of Halloween candy purchased every year by Americans. To give you a visual on what 20,000,000 pounds of candy looks like, an average size car weighs about 4,000 pounds. You would need 5,000 cars to equal the 20,000,000 pounds. That’s a ton of cars.
I don’t usually make treat holders for my Halloween candy. We pass out too much candy to make that practical. But for a few special people, I might do a little something extra. This year, I came up with these matchbook holders. They look complicated but they are quite simple.
You’ll need a piece of Basic Black card stock that’s 3.5 x 6.5″. Then score it at .5″, 3.5″, and 3.75″. Adhere a piece of Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper next to the score line at 3.75″. Then adhere your Halloween paper directly next to the Glimmer Paper. The mummy is stamped and then punched out. The “trick or treat” is stamped and then punched out.
Insert your candy where the .5″ fold is and staple it into the holder. When you fold the flap closed, you’ll tuck it into the bottom, just like a matchbook. So cute and so simple! You could easily make a dozen or so of these in an evening.
