When I had my first peek at the new Holiday Catalog, there were a couple items that I knew I absolutely needed. Yes, needed.
One of those products is the brand new die set Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets. Whoa! These dies are gorgeous! I was a little nervous that they wouldn’t work really well due to the level of detail in the dies. Sometimes those super detailed dies are a pain to work with because it’s so hard to get the paper out of the die after it’s cut. Well, I needn’t have worried, they worked beautifully. I could be die-cutting snowflakes for days with these dies.
Today’s project is a gift package using one of the brand new clear acetate boxes. These boxes are plenty big for gift cards, cash, or some other smallish gift. As you can see, I went a little over the top with this gift packing. All the gold, ribbon, sequins, and pearls is heart-stopping. This is truly a one-off gift wrap. You probably wouldn’t want to make a dozen of these. But one for that special person who would truly appreciate the time and work you put into it. You know who I’m talking about. That’s right, your crafty BFF would love to receive this box. And she probably won’t even care if the box is empty. That’s right, give her this empty box and I bet she’ll proudly put this on display in her home. Not only that, she will brag to all her other friends about the amazing gift box she received. She will know the love and time you put into making the box. She gets it.
I love that the dies include a strip of snowflakes. They make an amazing border. I know the front of the box is just a tad busy, so here is the back side of the box so you can get a better view of that snowflake border.Wow! I am in love with those snowflakes. The great thing about this border die is that you can have just a single row of the snowflakes, or you can do what I did here and make a two-sided strip of them. I added a bit of vellum to soften all the gold. Did you notice that there is no seam here on the back? When you cover boxes or wrap things, you always want your seam on the front side where it will be covered by your focal point. Then the back of the box looks just as pretty as the front side.
Here is a close up of the focal point on the center. Gold embossing on top of the gold metallic snowflakes with the itty bitty peals on the snowflakes. Wow!
If you look closely, you can see all the layers of lace, and sequins, and gold ribbons. I couldn’t make up my mind so I used all of them. Don’t you love when you can do something wildly extravagant like this?
Hmmm… maybe I need to rethink my idea of a wild time…
