Send Mom Some Love

May 9, 2018 by Diane Leave a Comment

As we count down to Mother’s Day (five more days!), I have another project you can make for the mom that tells you “you don’t have to get me anything”. In the Occasions Catalog, there is a 3D box using the Apron dies. I really liked the idea of using the apron to make a box. This is a great idea to fill with a sweet treat for mom. It’s big enough for a few candies or a gift card or both. Here is the Apron Box.The dimensions of the box are 2″ wide by 3.25″ tall by 1″ deep. I’ve used the 2×8″ cello bag to hold the kisses inside my treat box. The cello bags hold a nice amount of candy. And, you can trim the top off the cello bags if you don’t need that much bag.

Here is a side view of what the box looks like. Those silver foil utensils – so cute!

To make your box, you will need two aprons in card stock, two aprons in a pattern paper, and the box piece. Here is the pattern to make the box shape. You’ll want to cut the solid lines and score on the dashed lines.

You can see in the first picture, I glued the two card stock aprons to the outside of the box.

Then flip it over and add the tape to the box folds.

Peel the backing from the tape and fold it in to form your box. Glue the neck strap to the top of the card stock apron. The pattern paper aprons will get glued to the outside of the box.

This is a great box for anyone that likes to cook. You could even make a masculine version for Father’s Day. Here is Dad’s Apron. Note that Dad’s grill tools are different from kitchen tools Mom’s. The die set includes both kitchen and BBQ tools. So very cute!
We are now in the last few weeks of the 2017-18 Annual Catalog. The Retirement Lists have been posted for a while. And now a few items have been discounted as well, mostly embellishments or dies. All retiring items are only available while supplies last and will be discontinued after May 31. Due to high demand for retiring stamp sets, retiring stamp sets will be guaranteed available until May 25; all other products are not guaranteed and are only available while supplies last.

Have you tried Paper Pumpkin yet? If not, we have a special available for those who have never subscribed to Paper Pumpkin in the past. Sign up by tomorrow, May 10th and you’ll get 50% off your first two months subscription.  This special is only for new subscribers.
