I promised last week that I would start sharing the Display Projects that I made for OnStage very soon. And it’s time to get the party started! One of the brand new Product Suites that will appear in the Occasions Catalog is the Party Animal Suite. Oh my goodness! You are going to love everything in this Suite.
The Balloon adventures photopolymer stamp set comes with 17 stamps. I think my favorites in this set is the two piece banner that you can layer and all the balloons. The Party Animal Designer Series Paper has lots of great options – some wild and crazy and some more muted (for those of you that haven’t embraced your inner party animal just yet).
My first project is a 3D project that is actually a giant shaker sign. Don’t be afraid to go big when you’ve got something to say. To make the sign, I used the white cardboard that comes in our paper packs and covered it with the Party Animal paper. I sketched out the arrow on plain copy paper then traced it onto the cardboard.
I used the Large Letter thinlets to cut out the letters. Here’s a tip when you need exact placement for die cutting: tape your dies to your paper using washi tape. This will hold them in place long enough to get them through the Big Shot. Washi tape is very forgiving when you pull it back up. I did not have any problems with it tearing or marking the card stock.
To create the shaker portion, you’ll want to adhere a Window Sheet on the inside of the card stock. Then I used the Foam Strips around the letters making one large shaker area. Place the foam strips pretty close to the open area or you will need lots and lots of filler.
I filled my shaker sign with sequins from our Bermuda Bay and Gold Sequin Trim rolls of “ribbon”. I used about two yards worth of each of the trims and yes, I took all of the sequins off the string. It took awhile, but the effect is totally worth it. Just look at all those sequins!
To give the sign added stability, I used the same Foam strips around the entire outside of the arrow. This gives it a nice finished edge all the way around it. The balloons are stamped and punched using the coordinating Balloon punch. I used several different layers of Dimensionals behind each one to add depth. The Metallic Gold thread is tied onto each balloon and it glued down where the card stock bow is adhered.
I hope this puts you in the mood to party this week. Wednesday I have more great party ideas coming up. And just wait until you see how awesome this Party Animal paper is! It is so cute that I can’t decide if I want to use it or hoard it. For now, I’m using it – I know where I can get more of it.
Don’t forget November’s Special! My Stitched Framelits arrived this weekend but I haven’t had a chance to get them out to play with them yet. What is it about “best laid plans”? And marathons? This is the second weekend in a row that plans have been bested by a marathon. We were in serious need of some Disneyland time this weekend so we drove over there pretty early Sunday morning thinking we’d be ready to head home early afternoon. We had no idea that Sunday morning was also a Disney half marathon going on at the park and throughout the City streets around the park. Lots of closures for blocks and blocks and tons of traffic everywhere. It took us an hour from where we got off the freeway until we were finally parking the car. And because we were so much later getting into the park than we’d planned, we ended up staying an extra couple hours to get in all the things we wanted to see.
Despite all the craziness getting to the Park, it was completely worth it. We love Disneyland during the Holidays. And this year, for the first time ever, they are having a “Festival of Holidays” with food kiosks around the park selling lots of Holiday treats and drinks. If you’ve ever been to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival, it’s very similar to that on a smaller scale.
So, my Stitched Dies are sitting on my desk waiting for me to get to them. Soon…very soon.
Just a quick word about today’s Supply List. The Balloon Adventures and Party Animal Paper have not been added to the Program yet that generates these. I’m sure they are working on getting it added to the system, but there are a lot of brand new products coming and these things take time. Be patient. You won’t be disappointed.
