When looking for mermaids, the best place to find them is at the bottom of the sea. These beautiful creatures love to hide among the rocks and seaweed. They love spending time with their sea creature friends.
This little mermaid is playing hide and seek with her friends the sea horses. It looks like she’s found two so far. I’m sure she’ll find the third sea horse pretty soon.
The creativity process is amazing. Sometimes, I can make a card start to finish in 10 minutes. And other times, it can take a week or longer. I had the pieces of my mermaid card laid out for about a week before came up with this final version. I was stuck on how to add my sentiment and what to do with all the seaweed. I think I came up with a pretty good solution. Sometimes you just have to think outside of the box to fit in all the elements you want to include.
I free-hand cut rocks and just added on to them until it looked balanced. I sponged ink on the edges of the rocks to add depth. The seaweed is glued around the rocks to create the little scene. The mermaid and seaweed are watercolored using my ink pads and an aqua painter.
I am really enjoying the Magical Day stamp set and dies. I have a couple more projects coming using this stamp set. If you’re on the fence about this stamp set, let me say that this is a great set for kids or even those that are just kids at heart.
