I am so excited that I get to see some crafty friends tomorrow. I will be at the Just Crop Retreat in Fullerton and I am so looking forward to seeing all the ladies. I love sharing make and takes with them and all the fun new products every time a new Stampin Up Catalog comes out. Sale-A-Bration is also one the best times of the year because of the freebies you earn with a qualifying purchase.
This Valentine’s Treat Box is one of my make and takes for tomorrow. I use these clear treat boxes quite a bit. Fill them with a little bit of candy and they are perfect for small gifts and party favors. To decorate these boxes, I use a strip of pattern paper and then add a “topper” to the top of the box. When you make these, make sure you put your seam on the top of the box because it will be covered by the “topper”. Then the rest of your box still looks pretty.
I always tape the paper to itself rather than taping it to the box. This is a great way to do it, if you’re making party favors. By taping the paper to itself, I can easily slide off the paper band if I made too many party favors. Then I can reuse the box for another project. The Valentine’s bundle comes with a stamp set that has two coordinating heart punches. I love that it has both the regular heart and then the scalloped-edge heart too. For my topper, I used one of the matching doilies, layered the gray arrow on top, and then added the two layers of punched hearts as the final touch. The doilies come in both red and pink and the reverse sides are white so you can make it any color you like. For the very top layer, I stamped the “love you lots” first and then the pink dotted heart over the top. Since this is a photopolymer stamp set, this is really easy to layer.
I’m looking forward to getting out of the house tomorrow and away from my plumbing problems. Actually, the plumbing is mostly fixed now, but the restoration of the house is going to be a nightmare. I’ll think about that later. I’m focusing on the positives right now… we have flush toilets once again!
