The Hey Love stamp set in the Occasions Catalog has the most adorable animal images with matching puns. I met up with some friends earlier this week and wanted to take them a little something for Valentine’s Day. Here are just a couple the cute treat bags I made. The animals are stamped with our Memento Black ink pad and colored using our Stampin Blends markers. I love our Blends alcohol markers. There are so many different techniques that you can do with these markers. You can see below that my alligator has this cool textured skin. I used a scrap of denim material and our Color Lifter marker to make the texture.
To recreate this look, you’ll start by coloring in your alligator, adding in all the shading. I happened to have a piece of denim that was cut from an old pair of jeans in my craft stash. If you have a pair of jeans that you’re getting rid of, cut it up and use it for crafting.
Once you have a small piece of denim you can easily work with, color a small section of it with our Color Lifter Blends marker. Then press and hold the saturated portion of the denim on the part of the alligator that you want to texture. You’ll notice that I did not texture his belly, just the side and head. It doesn’t take very long, maybe 15-20 seconds or so, to get this look. The ink from the Color Lifter is actually pulling the green ink back out of the paper. The longer you hold the denim to the colored image, the more color you will lift. Definitely a cool way to achieve a new look with your Blends markers.
The tags themselves are super easy to make. I stamped on white card stock and then layered on a red card stock, punched a hole, and tied a ribbon. All the tags are different shapes and sizes, which adds to the uniqueness. This is a quick and easy idea you can make at home.
