Only two more sleeps until I leave for OnStage on Wednesday! Yay! This week, I’m sharing my swaps that I’m taking with me to OnStage.
I have to be honest…making swaps this year was a little tricky. In past years, the retiring products list would come out weeks before we left and we’d get a small preview list that we could purchase from prior to Convention. This year, the retiring products list comes out after Convention – same with the preview list! So…what do I use to create my swaps? You might be wondering, what’s the big deal if you make something that uses retired products? Well, most Demonstrators prefer to swap only current products because we use them in classes or demonstrations or on our blogs. And we don’t necessarily want to promote a product that can no longer be purchased.
This year, we are all in the same boat – nobody knows what’s staying and what’s going. Although we do know the 2014-16 In Colors are all retiring and it’s a safe bet that any product containing these colors is going as well. I did my best to avoid using anything with those five colors.
My first swap I’m sharing is one I’m using for Wednesday night’s shoebox swap. My group and I have been attending Sherrie’s Shoebox Swap every year for many years and it has not disappointed us once. It’s a 40-card swap. You make 20 ahead of time and kit 20 cards to be made that evening. At the swap, she’ll divide us into two groups and you’ll make half of your cards that evening. At the end of the evening you go home with 40 complete cards.
This stamp set, Celebrate Today, was on our short list of sets that will be in the next catalog. And all of the colors I’m using will be carried forward. I’m taking a chance on the punch and the bakers twine, but then so is everyone else.
