Happy Monday! Today I’m sharing my second make & take from the retreat this past weekend. I really enjoy seeing everyone at the retreats. And I love seeing what everyone is working on. These ladies are pretty dedicated to their crafting.
This make & take is actually a gift card holder. The reality is that gift cards are actually a pretty good gift, even if we feel like it’s a cop-out when we give them away. Most people I know enjoy receiving gift cards, because it allows them to pick out exactly what they want.
I used my Stamparatus for this card. I wanted to make sure my “deck the halls” and my ornament hangers were both straight. By using my Stamparatus for the ornament hangers, I was able to stamp one, and then move my plate down one notch to stamp the second. Super easy! This card goes together relatively simple. The Peacock and Vanilla layers on the inside are simply glued down. I purposefully left the inside blank so everyone could add their preferred sentiment. The front half of the card folds in to make the pocket. The half circle notch allows you to slip a gift card or cash in and out of the pocket. The pocket should be 3″ deep, which means you want to score the front of your card 2.5″ in from the edge. Definitely use Tear & Tape along the edges to make the pocket. The Tear & Tape is quite a bit stronger than regular crafting adhesives and then your pocket won’t pop open unexpectedly.
You can see that the Vanilla piece on top extends past the pocket on the inside. When you attach this piece to the front of the card, be sure to only put adhesive on the side that won’t be showing when you open the card. I used a pencil to mark the back of my Vanilla piece so I would know where to put the adhesive. I used Tear & Tape for this piece too since I wanted to be sure the front panel would stand up to opening and closing.
This turned out to be a pretty popular make & take and I just about sold out of all of them. Have you started your Christmas crafting? We’re closing in on November so it is definitely time to get a move on!
