Countdown To Valentine’s Day

When I first saw the Sending Love Suite, I knew I had to get the Love Notes Framelits Dies. In the die set, there is an adorable mini envelope. Oh my goodness! It is too cute. The envelope die makes these tiny 1″ envelopes. Not only that, there is an adorable die to make stationery to fit inside the envelope!

I knew the envelopes would make a great Countdown Calendar for Valentines. And I was right! Check this out!

Here’s how I made my Countdown Calendar.

The metal board was supposed to hang vertically, but I couldn’t fit all fourteen envelopes onto it when vertical. Switching it to horizontal allowed enough space for everything. My metal board was scalloped at the top and straight across the bottom though. And it’s longer than 12″. I traced the scalloped edge onto a second sheet of card stock so I could have a scallop on both sides.
Using my (retired) Crop-o-dile, I punched new holes in the metal since I changed the orientation from vertical to horizontal so I could hang it.
Since I was piecing the paper together, I now had a seam that I needed to hide. I glued the paper together. Then I ran it through my Falling Petals Embossing Folder one section at a time. The raised hearts almost completely hide the seam.
I sponged the raised hearts very gently with Blushing Bride Ink. The pink is so faint you can hardly see it, but it gives the hearts a little more definition.
I laid out my envelopes, alternating white and red, until I came up with a pattern I was happy with. I glued down the envelopes in the middle first and then worked my way out.
The red envelopes got the large heart inserts. And the white envelopes got the small red heart inserts.
I punched out a red banner.
Then I stamped the “Love Note” on white, which I also punched out with the banner punch. Then I trimmed it slightly with my scissors so it layers on the red banner.
The numbers are from the Labeler Alphabet set and punched out using the circle punches.

These notes are tiny, but still big enough to tell someone you love them everyday. Or at least that you love them for the first half of the month.
