Do you remember those old tv shows where you’d see a person balancing a plate on top of stick and then he’d spin it? Then he’d add another plate and spin it too. Then he’d add a couple more plates and get them spinning too. All while trying to keep the first plates spinning at the same time. Eventually, he might have a dozen plates all spinning together. His goal was to keep them all going without a single one falling and breaking.
Yep. That’s my life most weeks. I am that person spinning those plates, trying to keep them all going. Our life has a lot going on: two kids in high school/soccer/track, hubby’s back in school, art classes for me, and keeping my Stampin Up business going. That’s a lot of spinning plates.
For those that don’t know, my husband’s Company is relocating out of State and we opted not to go. After 20 years of working for the same Company, this as a good time to hit the reset button and try something new. He’s about a third of the way through a Paralegal program, with two thirds to go. I won’t kid you. We’ve had our moments of “what are we doing” and “did we make the right decision”. And we’ve discussed going versus not going I can’t tell you how many times. For many, many reasons the right choice for us was not going. Huge life change coming up very soon. And it’s scary. It’s the equivalent of two-dozen-plates-spinning scary.
All those images of spinning plates reminded me of a circus. Just inside the tent, there’s an unbelievable number of things going on… elephants, lion tamers, horses, trapeze artists, and clowns. And the ring master. He’s the one in charge of keeping everything going. The Cupcakes and Carousels paper stack has a lot going on. The different papers are filled with mixed patterns and bright colors. Add in the circus tent from the Carousel Birthday stamp set and you’re ready for an adventure. The doilies in this card are spritzed with Calypso Coral reinker. The coordinating embellishment kit provides the finishing touches with a gold foil label, tassel and ribbon to pull it all together.
I’ve got to get back to those spinning plates…oops, I mean kids. Can’t leave them unattended too long or I’ll lose track of where they are off to next. Check back this Friday for a St. Patrick’s Day card you will love.
