If the teens in your life are anything like the ones I know, then the preferred gifts are gift cards or cash at the Holidays. I struggle with just giving them a gift card or cash because it seems so impersonal. But ultimately, it is what they really want. My daughter says a gift card to her favorite store is really like getting two gifts. The first gift is receiving the gift card and the second is being able to go to the store and pick out exactly what she wants. And my son, who is now driving, loves gasoline and food gift cards.
So even though I’ll give them the gift cards, I can’t just hand them a plain envelope. To make the gift special, I’ll wrap it up like a present. Then I had the thought that giving it to them in a gift tag with a secret pocket would be kind of fun. I used the dies from the Card Front Builders Thinlets to cut the trees and the deer. I added some embossing paste to the trees for snow. And while the embossing powder was still wet, I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter for sparkle.
Here is the back side of the tag with the pocket. If you have a number of teens or kids in your gift-giving circle, you could make several of these and hide them on your Christmas tree for them to find. Plus you can decorate them to the recipients individual style. And now you’ve made an impersonal gift card or bit of cash very personal to that special person. And you’ve given them a gift they will love.
