Last Friday, the four of us hit the road for Phoenix. It’s a long story, but we ended up having to take the Camaro. 🙂 Yep, we fit the four of us and our luggage in the Camaro. Amazing!
Probably not the best decision to take a car that gets only 12 miles to the gallon. But, our options were limited. At least it gave us a chance to stop at gas stations and stretch our legs (have you seen how small the backseat is in a Camaro?).
At one of the gas stops, we came across this place that had giant candy bars. Here I am loading up on snacks for the roads. Just a couple Twix bars and a 5 lb. Hershey bar. They had giant sizes of a bunch of different candies. I was sorely tempted to load up, but I kept reminding myself how small our trunk was.
We spent most of Friday driving to Phoenix, and just hanging out around town. I had a 3 pm appointment to set up my displays for OnStage, but other than that we were free for the day.
Saturday morning everything started bright and early. And I was first in line to check in for the A-D line Saturday am! Yes, I couldn’t wait to start the day.
The OnStage Local events are held in a single conference room and we usually sit at a table all day. I love the tables. It gives us a place to put our cameras, coffees, and notebooks.
Stampin Up always does a great job with the decor and theming of the rooms. Here is a close-up shot of some of the table decor and the outline for the day. By the way, we did not end at 6:00. We went over time, which is usual for a Stampin Up Event.
And here I am next to the Display Stamper sign. Eeek!! Sooo cool to see my name on the board. I still can’t believe I was selected. And if you peek to the right of the sign, those are my projects that I made for the Display Board. I’ll share those projects in the next couple weeks so you get a better view of them.
Throughout the day on Saturday, Stampin Up gave away products. Everyone gets coded buttons and when they call your color/letter, you win that prize. I won the very first prize patrol of the day. What an awesome prize.
During our lunch break, the four of us were in the same area at the same time, so I made the girls pose for a picture while I was thinking of it. From left to right, Chrissy, me, Lyndi, and Margo.
I hope you don’t mind all the pictures of our road trip. Even though we were all squeezed in the sports car, we had the best time. We were constantly laughing. We even had room to bring home all our new goodies.
And Sunday morning we headed home. Or at least we tried. Apparently someone booked a City-wide marathon for Sunday morning and it closed off miles of City streets downtown. Every time we made a right turn, it looped us back around where we had just been. We finally found a Sheriff that was parked and we stopped to ask directions. He asked where we were trying to get. I said “California” and he laughed. Then he pulled out his map and routed us way around the marathon where we would be able to meet up with a freeway.
We left the hotel parking lot at 9:15 and we finally made it to the freeway at 10:18. Seriously, one hour to get out of downtown. By that time we need to stop for gas and potties again from the all the laughing at the ridiculousness. We finally made it home Sunday late afternoon.
We’re already talking about the next OnStage Local event in April, which will be in San Diego. And we are already making plans to be there. We seriously have the best time together. By the time I come home from one of these trips, my cheeks hurt from all the laughing we do. These girls are the best. And we always seriously miss those that couldn’t attend with us.
One of the best things about Stampin Up is the friendships. At every event, I make new friends and see old friends from around the Country. If it sounds like you’re missing out on all the fun, you probably are. These events are the best. I’d love to have you join my team. If you’re local to SoCal and want to meet my group, we’d love to have you as a guest at our next downline meeting on 11/17. And even if you’re not local and you’re thinking about joining Stampin up, I’m here to answer any questions you have. We are always looking for new friends.
Next week, I’ll start sharing the projects I made for the display boards. Friday, I will be back with a Five Minute Friday card for you!
Don’t forget November’s Special!
