As I mentioned on Monday, it is officially party week at my house. I have four Holiday parties this week, three of which are here at my house. Monday’s party was absolutely fabulous! Poli hosted a Paint and Vino night here in my studio. We had the best time. 
You can see the instructor’s painting laying on the edge of the table. Below is my version. I’m not much of a painter, that’s my daughter’s talent. The sky is supposed to be reminiscent of Van Gogh’s Starry Night painting. Obviously, I’m not Van Gogh, but I think it looks pretty good. 
I’m kind of amazed that my little classroom actually fit 10 people seated comfortably with even a little room to spare. I’m going to have to start scheduling classes here in my studio again now that it’s all fixed up.
Speaking of parties, the Occasions Mini catalog will start January 4th and I can already tell that one of the hot new items will be the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlets Die. Pop-Up cards in general are very popular and balloons are perfect for a number of occasions, like birthdays, parties, celebrations, congratulations, just to name a few.
This is my last sample from the Party Animal Suite that I made for the OnStage Displays. This was such a fun Suite of products to work with. And the color palette is so bright and cheerful. The ideas were overflowing. When making displays, we’re encouraged to make flat, lightweight cards due to the weight of the items, but I knew that this product really needed to be made the way it was intended: as a pop-up. 
I kept the front of the card relatively simple. I have to say the Metallic thread works perfectly as strings for the balloons.
And here’s the inside…
Wow! Look at all those colors! And here’s a close-up shot of the pop-up on the inside of the card. 
I know that these pop-up dies can be a little intimidating. I recommend the first time you use plain copy paper so if you make a mistake, you haven’t ruined the good paper. Maybe even try a couple run throughs on plain paper before using the good stuff. There are guides on the die on where to line up your paper, but practice is always helpful. Just note how tall the die is and be sure to center it on your piece of paper vertically as well as checking to make sure your straight horizontally as well. For this card, I die cut a piece of White card stock and then layered the confetti pattern paper over the top to give a contrast to the stripes behind the pop-up panel. The White pop-up panel helps break up the business of the two different patterns. If you’re stamping the balloons in the center, be sure to do that while it is still flat before you fold the panel for the pop-up. Then you’ll get a nice stamped image.
