Cooler weather. Unfortunately, it’s going to be another week over 90′ here. If I think Fall thoughts and make Fall cards, will the temperature drop? Here’s hoping!
Today’s card was inspired by one I saw online. I can’t remember who posted it and I think mine is slightly different from what I recall of the other card. I’m still playing with the Love of Leaves Bundle. I think it took me a project or two before I realized the leaf dies made some very pretty frames. And now that I look at in the Catalog, I see they have an example doing this same technique.
For this card, I cut the white center piece into a rectangle. Then I centered my leaf die. The leaf die is actually two pieces and you can cut both pieces at the same time. One die is the outline of the leaf which also leaves the pretty frame around the outside of the leaf. The second die is the veins in the leaf itself. I used a bit of washi tape to hold both the outside leaf and inside leaf dies in place while I die cut them. I supposed you could do it in two separate steps, but why create twice the amount of work.
This card is really unique because I almost never use white for my card base. This is the Thick White card stock and not our standard whisper white card stock. The Thick White is more sturdy, just like our color card stock.
And if you’re wondering how I got the itty bitty pennant ends on my “hello”, I used the Classic Label punch to do this. I cut my strips to 3/8ths of an inch, and then stamped my “hello”. I inserted the card stock into the side of the punch to trim off the end. If you punch it the traditional way, the little points are pointing out. If you slide it in through the side of the punch, you end up with this mini pennant. Or, you could just wing it with a pair of scissors.
Let’s talk about the plaid paper. I love the look of plaid. It makes me think of holidays and cooler temperatures. This plaid paper pack is pretty unique. One side of the papers is all Fall-ish type colors. The reverse sides are all more traditional holiday colors. I love that I’ll be able to use this pack of paper for lots of Holiday crafting.
