Did you know there’s only little more than two weeks left of May? Yikes! Where does the time go? The end of the school year is always really busy for us: wrapping up our soccer and track seasons, end of year school activities, team award banquets for both school and extracurricular teams, awards nights for schools, and the list goes on. Sometimes, the only way I can get cards made is if I don’t set my sights too high. Geeze, that sounds bad. What I mean is that quick and easy can be a real life saver. Five minute Fridays to the rescue!
I have several birthday cards that I need to make and I’ve gotten a lot of use out of my cake stamp and balloon punches lately. A lot. Seriously. I really needed something different because I was getting into a rut. I want to get as much use as I can out of my 2014-16 In Colors too. I’m going to be seriously sad when I have to move Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss to the “retired” cabinet. In fact, I’ve had them out on my desk for two weeks straight just so I can get tons of use before we part ways.
Hopefully, you aren’t tired of these colors just yet. You will see them again very soon!
The flowers are from the Garden in Bloom stamp set. I am so glad that set will be around next year. I love the water color look of these flowers. There’s no special technique to get that look – that’s exactly how they stamp with the lighter and darker shades. The “happy birthday” is from the You’re So Lovely stamp set, which is going away at the end of this month. Honestly, the set doesn’t look like much in the catalog, but it has really grown on me. In fact, I’ve used it a number of times lately. Just wait until you see Monday’s card! You’re going to love it!
The pattern paper and the epoxy accents are going away as well. Same with the Blackberry Bliss card stock and all the ink colors used here too. Yes, I’m still trying to get more use out of my soon-to-be-retiring products. Seems like I spend most of the year hoarding these beautiful supplies because I’m afraid I’ll run out of them. And cutting into that lovely gorgeous paper is so tough! And then I spend the last month of the catalog hurrying to use most of it up. Do you do that too? Please tell me I’m not the only one.
Do you have the You’re So Lovely or Garden In Bloom stamp set? I’d love to see what you’ve made with either of these sets. Send me a picture of your card!
