This past Saturday, the kids and I returned from a quick trip to Paris. Yes, Paris France. For years I’ve been wanting to take them to Europe and it never quite worked out between the timing and the cost. And I honestly thought we weren’t even going to have time to take a vacation at all this Summer between all of their activities.
But we realized roughly three weeks ago that Soccer camp was ending about a week earlier than I originally thought. So we ended up with a one week window to go somewhere. I started looking up pricing for a couple different places like New York City, Boston, Florida, and Vancouver. And everyone of them was so expensive because we were so last minute. Then on a whim, I plugged in Paris.
I jokingly mentioned that flights and hotels to Paris wasn’t that much more than New York City. And the response I got was “So, go to Paris”. But seriously, who does that? Am I one of those people who book a last minute trip to Paris? Can it even be done?
Well, apparently, yes it can be done. All you have to do is pick some dates and give them your credit card number and you’ve got a trip. Who knew?!? So, we were going to Paris. I guess I am one of those people who could jet off to Paris at the last minute.
Honestly, I was in shock for days.
Anyway, I’ll share more about the trip in another post. Or if you follow me on Instagram (@247Inkspiration), you can see some of our trip highlights there. We saw everything we possibly could. And we walked miles and miles every single day.
I brought some treats home for friends. I finally started wrapping them up yesterday so I could get them passed out. These little treat bags contain some individually wrapped cookies and chocolates from Disneyland Paris. The tag base is watercolored in Pacific Point and Real Red to resemble the French flag. The top layer has Soft Sky sponged across the top. I used some of the brand new Embossing Paste and the new stencils to make the clouds. While the paste was still wet, I added the Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The Arc de Triomphe is from the recently retired stamp set Chase Your Dreams. When I buy our travel stamp sets, I almost always keep them for other uses after they’ve retired.
Anyway, still feeling a bit of jet lag so I’m going to keep this short. It hits me right about 4:00 pm, which is 1:00 am in Paris.
Our schedule almost never allows for things like this to happen. I’m pretty excited when we end up with a free Saturday, let alone a whole week of no commitments. I forgot how much fun you can have being spontaneous. I definitely need to add more of that back into our life.
I’ll be sure to schedule some time for it in the future. 😉
