I’m so excited to release this month’s Sampler kit, Road Trip! There’s just something amazing about loading up the car and hitting the road for parts unknown. Traveling by car allows you to see everything along the way to your destination. All those fun last minute road-side stops just make the trip even better. As they say in life, it’s about the journey, not the destination.
For this Sampler, I left both the highway number sign and the direction signs blank. This is for you to fill in where you want to go or to remember a favorite past road trip.
Have you noticed a trend with the last couple of Sampler kits…they all are travel related. June was Bon Voyage with the cruise ship, July was Happy Camper with the adorable fox and camper, and August’s kit is Road Trip. Apparently, I need a vacation!
I’ve got a quick funny story about a road trip we took with the kids when they were younger. Somehow it was decided that we would go explore the North Rim of the Grand Canyon over a long weekend. The Grand Canyon is truly amazing to see. It’s hard to grasp how big it is until you see it in person. Well, we’d already been to the South Rim several times in just a few years. The downside with the North Rim is that you have to drive a really long way around the canyon to get there and there aren’t really a lot of services there. Tent camping and hiking are very popular on the North Rim. By the time we got there, the kids were tired and we still had to set up our campsite. Once that was done, we went to the Lodge to see the view. As we’re standing there, my son says “it’s the same canyon that we already saw”. And then walked right back into the lodge and found a couch to sit on. Well, he’s not wrong. It was the same canyon. Ha-ha!
